Machine Setter Apprenticeship Program

Creating an educational pipeline to provide the industry with the skilled workforce that is needed.

The Machine Setter Apprenticeship Program was developed to meet manufacturer’s needs for upgrading/enhancing the skills of incumbent and entry-level workers. This program uses technical instruction and on-the-job training to lay the groundwork for incumbent/entry-level employees to progress to becoming a machine setter.

BENEFITS

Having a trained workforce means your workers are learning new skills that can improve production, cut time spent in creation of your product (or service), reduce production costs, reduce mistakes, build confidence in your workforce, and create a better working environment. An investment in your employees’ skill sets is an investment in your company

  • Employees chosen for training feel valued, building loyalty to your company.
  • The lack of development opportunities may dampen motivation for employees.
  • Effective training can be used to “up-skill” or “multi-skill” your employees making employees more valuable to your company.
  • Investing in the development of your employees through training can provide career pathways for employees within your company. Rather than them seeking next-level opportunities elsewhere you will be able to retain skilled employees.
  • Retention of employees also helps you hire and promote from within. Rather than having to go through an expensive hiring process, you can invest in your current talent.
  • Providing ongoing employee training and development supports succession planning by increasing the availability of experienced and capable employees to assume other positions as they become available.
  • Training your employees can increase their quality, efficiency and productivity in completing their daily work tasks.
  • Apprentices can earn PA – State registered, industry-specific certifications and are eligible to earn credits towards an associate’s degree of Applied Science in Industrial Technology at Clarion University.
