Prepare to enter the Oil and Gas Industry
The Pipe Welding Certificate program is designed to train AWS Certified Welders for employment in the Oil and Gas/Petrochemical industry, with the possibility of earning an additional 9 credits at Venango Technology Center in Oil City.
This program provides students with the following knowledge and skills:
- WLD-222 Pipe Welding 1 Basic – Uphill shielded metal-arc welding (SMAW) for pipe
- WLD-223 Pipe Welding 2 Advanced – Prep for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and American Welding Society (AWS) pipe welding certification in uphill shielded metal-arc welding for 6 diameter, schedule 80 pipe in the 6G (45 degree) fixed position
- WLD-224 Pipe Welding 3 Downhill/Exp – Prep for the American Petroleum Institute (API) downhill shielded metal-arc pipe welding process, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) pipe welding with a TIG root
